TaylorMade R1 Driver Review

TaylorMade R1 Driver
While on the search for the perfect driver I was able to test many different clubs. Picking a driver is fun, yet serious business. Employees knew me by name at my local Golfsmith. I swung driver after driver trying to find that right one. I was torn between the Nike Covert, TaylorMade R11 S Driver, and the TaylorMade R1 Driver. Finally I made my decision and let me tell you, "Best decision ever." If you are looking for an upgrade or just a new driver, you will want to read this review of the TaylorMade R1 Driver. The Review will cover the following topics:
  • The Adjustability
  • Crown Graphic Technology
  • The Shaft
  • My Overall Opinion
  • Where to Buy?

Its All About The Adjustability

The TaylorMade R1 Driver is a fully adjustable driver, an important factor that has made me fall in love with the R1 Driver. Here are some of the clubs adjustably futures:
  • Sole Plate: The 7 position Sole Plate allows the golfer a plus or minus 4 degree face angle adjustment. The user is able to find the exact face angle which fits their style of golf.
  • Loft Sleeve: As if the sole plate is not enough, the R1 driver comes with an 12 position adjustable loft sleeve.
  • Weights: The weight in the driver is properly incorporated low and in the front. This allows for better control and distance.
  • Loft & Face Angle: The changes in the loft affects the Face Angle. Increase the loft by 1 degree and the face angle closes by 2 degrees. If you decrease 1 degree then it opens 2 degrees.

Crown Graphic Technology

The Crown Graphic Technology is one of those things that you hear and it seems to simple to be true. Some Golf Drivers are dark and weirdly shaped, which leads the golfer to believe their club is straight but in reality is not. Since the user is misled, they are welcoming unwanted slices and fades. The TaylorMade R1 Driver has fixed this problem with the Crown Graphic Technology. The golfer can finally line the golf ball up straight and squared. Though I did not think this would work, my drives have thus far been flying straighter.

The Shaft

The shaft is a Aldila RIP Phenom 55-gram. This shaft allows the golfer to have a much faster club head speed. Also it just looks really cool!

Though the search was long and competitive, I love the TaylorMade R1. Everything from the look to the feel has been modified just right. The driver has helped my game tremendously and my buddies as well, I keep the ball straight and on the fairway. Overall I have truly enjoyed the TaylorMade R1 Driver and would recommend it to anyone one of my friends. I really hope this review helps you decide on a driver. What Are Others Saying?

The TaylorMade R1 Driver has a rating of 5 out of 5 on Amazon.com and TaylorMades website. Here are some current reviews from other real people using the driver.

  • "This is the best driver I've ever hit. I normaly drive 230yds, But with the R1 I hit a 357yd drive and almost had a heart attack. I even out drove my friends when I hit a bad shot and they hit good shots, which was unbelievable."
  • "I've used this club multiple times and it's flawless. I love the flex loft. It's helped my game tremendously. My drive has increased over 50 yards from my old driver to the R1. Taylormade really did it this time!!"
  • "My R1 is longer and straigher then any other driver I've owened. I took it straight to the first tee with no warm up and on the second swing I drove it 298 yards then 285 into the wind on the next hole. That's 20 to 30 yards past my old driver. One one thing I noticed staight away is the ball seems to stay in the air forever. "
